Christina Weed, Partner
Christina’s determination and knowledge make her a strong advocate for her clients and she aggressively defends their rights. She helps her clients better understand the law and ensure that it is being best applied to their situation.
Christina is a licensed attorney with an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy. She serves as Chair of the Tax Section of the Contra Costa County Bar Association and is also a member of the Estate Planning Council Diablo Valley and the Tri-Valley Estate Planning Council. Christina has also written, or been featured in, several publications.
In 2018, Christina became one of the first lawyers to argue a case in front of California’s Office of Tax Appeals. Mendes Weed, LLP is one of only a handful of law firms to have gone before the OTA because the OTA has only been hearing cases since January of 2018.
Christina has been designated a Certified Specialist in Taxation by the State Bar of California.
Lisa Mendes, Partner
Lisa is also known for her aggressive defense of her clients as well as her knowledge of the law and how it pertains to their situation. She advocates for the rights and well-being of her clients and that of their children and the elderly. She has a reputation for being a very fair negotiator and communicator with other lawyers and judges, which streamlines and expedites the process.
Lisa acts with compassion and understanding, while detailing in great depth the reality of the legal process and true expectations of the court process. She hopes that by being open and honest and communicative, her clients can move past this often difficult and emotional process efficiently to live the life they were meant to lead.
Lisa is a licensed attorney, with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Language and Literature. She has litigated multiple bench and jury trials in civil and criminal court for the Mendes Weed law firm of San Francisco. Lisa is an active member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association (CCCBA), specifically in the Family Law, Women’s, Tax and Estate Planning Sections. Lisa has written multiple articles for the Contra Costa Lawyer Magazine. She is a member of the Robert G. McGrath Inn of Court. Lisa advocates for proposed legislation and new laws as a member of the Contra Costa County Delegation of the California Conference of Bar Associations.
Monica Nemec, Associate
Monica has over three years of experience working in family law. Monica has gained experience in this field by working with several family law practitioners in the Bay Area, practicing in Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco Counties. Prior to starting at Mendes Weed, Monica worked as the Director of National Policy in Washington, D.C. for one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit behavioral health providers. Monica is interested in mental health and how those issues intertwine with family law and other areas of law.
Born to two Czech parents, Monica speaks Czech fluently. Monica received an International Baccalaureate for her studies in French in 2000. Her multilingual and multicultural background enables her to identify with people and families from various backgrounds. Monica earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Legal Studies from the University of California at Berkeley and received her Juris doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2013. Monica also holds a master’s degree in Public Policy from Vanderbilt University.
Aimee R. Morris, Associate
Aimee R. Morris is a litigator with 30 years of experience representing local, state and national clients in civil litigation disputes before state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. She earned her JD from the University of San Diego. Aimee has tried hundreds of cases, with particular experience including: Real Property Law, Representation of landlords, Consumer Litigation, Business Litigation, Estate Planning: Trusts, Wills, Probate and Trust Litigation, Creditor FDCPA and Rosenthal Act Defense in Federal and State Courts, and Marvin Actions (nonmarital contract-based actions). Aimee’s State Bar and court admissions include California, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, U.S. District Court – Central, Eastern, Northern & Southern Districts of California.
Jessica Rodriguez, Office Manager/Paralegal
Jessica Rodriguez is an experienced paralegal in the areas of family law,
tax law, and trusts/estates. Jessica developed a passion for the legal field after serving as a Fellowship Team Leader with AmeriCorp where she assisted the Family Law Facilitator’s Office in San Mateo County. Jessica has assisted self-represented litigants with completing their judicial forms, declaration, and translations. Jessica also lead English and Spanish divorce workshops for over 2 years.
Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Jessica worked in the aviation industry for over 12 years in various roles gaining customer service, management, and leadership skills.
Jessica received her bachelor’s degree from the San Jose State University in San Jose, California and earned her Paralegal Certificate from California State University, East Bay. Jessica has been a Notary Public for the State
of California since 2015.
Lauren Roseman, Paralegal
Lauren Roseman is an experienced paralegal in the areas of family law, immigration law, and civil and trust litigation. Lauren is a strong believer in social justice and her focus has always been advocating for the rights of others. Prior to joining the firm, Lauren worked at an immigration law firm, assisting with filing H-1B and TN visa applications with the Unites States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Lauren received her bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University in San Jose, California in Sociology with a minor in Justice Studies. She has plans of attending law school and becoming a family law attorney in the future.
